Hey everyone. A “trend” that I believe really is here to stay is the Maxi Dress. Almost anyone can get away with wearing one, and most Celebs have tried! Here’s a brief lesson of the Maxi Dress, and a look at some I really love!
From Worn Through.. “One of the earliest appearances of the “Maxi-Dress” was in 1968. The New York Times highlighted a cotton lace version by Osca de La Renta that he created for Elizabeth Arden Salon. More notable designers such as YSL, Dior, Cardin, Biba, Halston and others would latch on to the style as well. However, it was not until the 1970s that the Maxi-dress lodged itself firmly in the American mind (in all its polyester splendor), along with similar caftan and boho styles. By the late 1970s, it had become associated with the unfashionable and out of date (such as Mrs. Roper on Three’s Company).”

My advice for making sure you look fun and fierce while wearing the Maxi Dress is make sure you don’t wear a dress that is too long. Not only will you be tripping over your fabric, but it will make you look shorter, not taller. Also, I suggest you go with a empire waist. They hide lumps and bumps you don’t want anyone else seeing. Keep it fun, keep it fierce!

I am writing an article at the moment for a local paper and needed a basic understanding of how the maxi dress came about and its first appearances. I found this really useful. Your whole blog is great, stick with it. _ Luke
