Jerseylicious Style Tips: Tracy’s Duck-feet nails

One of my favorite, favorite shows is on Style Network. It’s Jerseylicious! The people on this show are so fun (except for Alexa..), and I love their flashy style. Even though I’m more of an Olivia fan, I enjoy Tracy and seeing how she does her hair, make-up, and nails. Here’s a video I found where Tracy shares the secrets of her wide nails, commonly known as Duck-feet nails!

Duck Feet Nails: Hot Manicure Trend

Wow. Just wow.  Check out the Duck Feet Nails above! I’d actually never heard of Duck Feet Nails before today but danged if I’m not madly in love with them.  They’re stylish, unique, and deliciously 70′s.  These  Duck Feet Nails are something you’d definitely see (and surely WILL see) on Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and the Kardashians.

Like the celebs mentioned, they’re sexy, fun, and seem to delight in being extraordinary.

From Stylelist.com:

Celebrities like Ke$ha, Rihanna and Katy Perry have been known to add a little self-expression to their digits with elaborately decorated nails, but the trend isn’t merely sweeping Hollywood, it has worked its way across the country into small town salons as well.

New York City-based manicurist Julie Kandalec, whose work recently graced the hands of Brooklyn Decker on Esquire’s February 2011 cover, has always loved getting creative at work, but picked up on the budding trend on a trip overseas.

“This new wave (of nail art) I just noticed about two years ago when I went to Hong Kong,” she says. “Then I was in Japan in November for the Tokyo Nail Expo and, over there, holy cow! They use crystals, glitter, 3D and Hello Kitty… it’s wild. It’s really, really cool.”

Proof that literally everything is in 3D these days, Kandalec explains what the term means in relation to nail art.

“Basically it’s when you place anything that stands out from the nail — maybe a charm, a crystal or sculpted flowers made with colored acrylic,” she describes. “It can be anything you can find in a bead store, things that aren’t even really designed for nails. For example, the Japanese love Hello Kitty so we could use Hello Kitty buttons or anything like that which sticks out from the nail.”

You have to read the rest of this article and check out the other pictures of HOT manicures.  You’ll completely flip for the  Japanese 3D manicured nails.  So gorgeous, they’re works of art.

2011 Nail Polish Trends

I found a great site today (Refinery29.com), and they have a fabulous post about 2011′s hottest Spring Nail Polish Trends. I was going to do a similar post, so I figured I’d just save my time and let you guys enjoy their hard work.

2011′s 6 Coolest Nail Polish Trends

I’m in love with every color, especially the “Nature Nudes”. That’s the look I’m currently wearing. I also am obsessed with the Peach, which looks perfect with a tan.. and the gun metal greys. Anway, just be sure to check out the link I posted and let me know what colors of nail polish you’re wearing now and have planned for Spring!

“Glee” Nail Polish is Coming!

Well if Justin Bieber can do it, “Glee” can too.

“Glee” is teaming up with OPI for a nail polish collection that will be featured on the February 8th episode and will hit stores next month. The line will be available at Sephora exclusively.

The colors include:

“Slushied” an opaque blue, “Hell to the No” a a bold purple, “Gleek Out” a lime, glittery green, “Diva-in-Training” a poppy pink, “Who Let the Dorks Out” a peacock green, “Miss Bossy Pants” a rich raspberry, and “Mash-Up” a pearlescent green gray.

A mini set will feature limited edition colors including “Celibacy Club,” a glimmering, diamond top coat; “Express Yourself to Yourself,” a coral shimmer shade, and “Sue Vs Shue,” a navy blue.

Is it bad that I might buy a few of these? I’ll post pictures when I get my hands on either the polish or some photos from the website.
